Autumn Moon
Feeling all alone and feeling rather sad
I looked up to ask the Moon, 'What options did I have?'
Could the Moon hear me? Could he possibly know?
My seven years of sadness, of never letting go.
"Dear Moon," I said, "you're so full and bright"
"You bare such a glow, are you happy tonight?"
"I'm so lonely you see it's been seven years"
"Mother's should live forever but now I've only tears."
The Moon looked down from the bright Autumn sky
"My dear," he said, "I'm the Moon you see so high"
"I knew your Mother throughout her life, even as a small child"
"She would talk to me each Autumn from her heart so mild"
She'd say "It's been seven years and you are such a glow"
"I miss my Daddy 'cause God took him home."
"Why Autumn Moon, why did Daddy leave?"
"He loved me and I miss him and I cry endlessly"
The Moon beamed, "If you were with me and could see all I do"
"The millions of stars and the sky so blue"
"Just as the light of my glow guides throughout the night"
"Watching over all I love with a warm, tender light"
"Your Daddy's never far from you, he hears your every breath,"
"He walks with you always, his sweet Elizabeth"
"Speaking of you often, he's so proud of you"
"His little Autumn lady, his greatest dream come true."
"We cannot leave the ones we love,"
"The spirit is constant like the moon above"
"For each time you see your clear Autumn sky"
"Feel me hold you tight, feel me by your side"
Feeling comforted I turned for home bidding the Moon goodnight,
My Autumn Moon smiled softly, "I love you Elizabeth darlin,
I love you and sleep tight."
Very lovely, heartfelt poem, thank you for sharing.
